Nurture Your Nature

It’s been six years since I made the quiet, powerful decision to begin healing—slowly and carefully, one practice at a time. What started as sobriety has become something much larger: a full-body return to myself.

Six years ago, I stopped drinking and started tending not just to my sobriety, but to my nature.

That quiet, scared, curious part of me that just wanted to try. To make things. To feel things. To move through the world in color, texture, and motion.

Sobriety didn’t “fix” me.
It freed me.

Now I’m addicted to growing—not the hustle kind of growth, but the garden kind.
Slow. Wild. Tender. Surprising.

Start Before You’re Good

You’ll never begin if you’re waiting to be good at something before you start.

Anyone good at anything has just practiced longer. That’s it.

The trick is learning to play badly—to begin without shame.

Every time I dye something, I’m co-creating with nature. The wind might pull the pigment. The water might warp the shape. And I let it. That’s the joy.

Recently, I dyed with someone who was anxious about an upcoming trip. She was trying to “get it right.” But dye doesn’t work like that. It invites surrender.

I watched her loosen her grip on perfection and lean into presence. When it was done, she said she felt better—not fixed, not… more like herself.

That’s what this is about.

Dash Dyeing: The Art of Reconnection

Dash dyeing is not just a practice—it’s a portal. It reconnects you to the elements.

The water, the air, the earth beneath your feet, the fire in your hands.

It teaches patience. Surrender. Curiosity.

When I work with people, I don’t just want them to wear something beautiful. I want them to wear something that reminds them of who they are, of what they felt, and of how they softened into something freer.

Clothing for Play, Not Performance

When you wear something handmade—especially something you helped dye—you stop performing and start playing.

Dash-dyed garments are like play clothes for the soul. They don’t want to impress; they want to express. They’re made for swirling, dancing, gardening, and breathing. They’re made for you.

Maybe You Don’t Need to Escape. Maybe You Need to Begin

Maybe your anxiety isn’t something to get rid of.
Maybe it’s something to listen to.

Maybe it’s pointing you toward a practice—something tactile, something nourishing, something that helps you quiet down the world and tune into yourself.

Whether throwing dye, planting a seed, sewing imperfect pants, or cracking an egg into your ramen…

Let yourself begin.

You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to practice.

Nurture your nature.
