Rigel Henry and his kids, Vera (12) and James (8), started their dye session by picking colors that felt like the beach—Turquoise, Bahama Blue, Jade Green, Forest Green, with soft accents of Peony and Ivory.

But color is just the first choice. Next comes the method.
